"Corn's-A-Poppin'" [Trailer] - Robert Altman
This is a film partially directed by Robert Altman and one he would have liked to forget, but times were tough and one would do just about anything. This was filmed in my fair city and commissioned by a local producer of pork products...the R. B. Rice Company. Mr. Rice was quite wealthy and thought his daughter, Cora Rice, had talent...thus, he spent a bundle of money on a film. It didn't work. NOTE: For some unexplained reason, the offering provides no streaming image...

Episode 39: Shostakovich & Shockers [To the Wonder; Stoker; Broken City] - Calum Reed & Pete Sheppard
It's Episode 39 of In the Mood for Podcast, a British-based film podcast hosted by Calum Reed of Ultimate Addict and Pete Sheppard of In the Mood for Blog. We might be a little off-form this week, as Pete is still ill and Cal is hungover, but we've got some juicy-looking films to ponder. We aim to be positive by bringing out our irregular Red Light District segment and pimping the best films we've seen in the past month, which include a Russian classic and a film about a woman who rents cats...

Episode 109: All About the Bantz [Hercules; Joe; The Films of 1977] - Calum Reed & Pete Sheppard
This week we let the reviews take a back seat, as we focus on festival fare and classic cinema. Podcast stalwart Irini M. is back with us to discuss the line-up for this year's Venice Film Festival (which she will be attending) but abandons us after half an hour, forcing Pete to turn to poetry for consolation. We take (a lot of) time out to discuss the year that was 1977, talking about the year's critics prizes, Oscar winners, and our personal top tens, leading to digressions about a classic cat...
